Hong Shing Lee joins Asian American Federation of New York as Chief Operating Officer

NEW YORK - April 17, 2006. The Asian American Federation of New York (AAFNY) welcomes Hong Shing Lee, LMSW as new Chief Operating Officer. Lee brings his extended knowledge of fundraising, operations and program to the Federation.

After receiving a Masters of Social Work in 1984, Lee worked for Hamilton-Madison House, the Brooklyn Chinese-American Association, and the Chinese-American Planning Council. He most recently served as Executive Director of the YMCA of Greater New York - Chinatown Branch, a position he held for over eight years. Under his direction, the YMCA increased face-to-face campaign results by 400%, special event fundraising by 250%, and expanded board membership by almost 100%.

Lee is a member of the Rotary Club of Downtown/Chinatown and serves on the Board of Directors of Greater Chinatown Community Association. He resides in New Jersey with his family.

Under Lee's direction, the Federation plans to move forward on an established strategic plan. "Mr. Lee is an outstanding leader within the community and his experience within non-profits brings a clear vision to the Federation" says Cao K. O, Executive Director of the Federation.

The Asian American Federation of New York is a nonprofit leadership organization that works to advance the civic voice and quality of life of Asian Americans in the New York metropolitan area. Established in 1990, the Federation funds, supports and collaborates with 39 member agencies to strengthen community services, promote strategic philanthropy, and conduct research and advocacy concerning critical issues.
