About Us
The Asian American Federation Florida IS A 501(C )(3) statewide nonprofit educational and cultural resource umbrella organization that was incorporated in 1984 to provide a forum for discussing issues of common interest to Asian Americans, and to promote and enhance appreciation of the ancestral legacy of Asian Americans in Florida. Since then, it has hosted, sponsored and cosponsored numerous national and local events including the Asian Arts Festivals in Miami-Dade County, and has spearheaded the establishment of Asian-American Scholarship Fund, Disaster Relief Programs for Bangladesh, Philippines and Tsunami victims, Miss Asian American Florida Pageant and Cultural Showcase, Thai New Year’s Festival, Nova Middle School Cultural Programs, and Asian American Health Care Forum. The Asian American Federation is also widely recognized for its role in the murder investigation of Luyen Phan Nguyen, a Vietnamese youth that was 1992 victim of hate crime. In addition, AAFF hosted “Asian American Focus” – a cable TV program – for over 15 years, sponsored by WLRN.
The Asian American Federation of Florida is an educational and cultural resource organization for Florida’s ethnic Asian communities. The Federation serves to assist its Asian organizational members in promoting and showcasing their arts and cultural tradition. While the Federation can provide a forum for discussing issues of common interest to Asian Americans, it is strictly non-partisan and does not endorse any political party or candidate for public office, nor does it advocate specific partisan political causes or agenda.
Mission Statement

empower the Asian American community of Florida In pursuit of its goal
for unity and empowerment, the Asian American Federation of Florida aims
to:
- Assist its Asian-American organizational members in the fullest exercise of their cultural and artistic tradition, and the preservation of their linguistic, national and religious heritage.
- Educate and inform the non-Asian community regarding the concerns and activities of Asian-Americans and their contributions to the cultural, social and religious environment.
- Encourage the fullest integration of Asian-Americans into the civic life of the community.
- Uphold the right of all religious groups to practice their faiths freely and openly as guaranteed under the US Constitution. But the Federation remains strictly non-sectarian and does not seek to favor the interests of one community of believers above another. All forms of worship and religious practice are held equally worthy of respect and support.
- Favor expanded trade and cultural exchange with the peoples and nations of Asia and the Pacific basin. But the Federation itself remains scrupulously non-profit and non-commercial and does not deliberately seek to advance any business or commercial enterprise more than any other.
- Stimulate and encourage interest in and friendship with the peoples and nations of Asia and Pacific Basin, while avoiding involvement or taking sides in the political affairs of the region. It will be up to individual members to form their own opinions toward specific Asian governments and political leaders.
