Community Focus Federation Newsletter (July 2008)

This summer, the Asian American Federation is pleased to announce the annual highlight of the Asian American Community Fund grant awards and the release of our latest report entitled Revitalizing Chinatown Businesses: Challenges and Opportunities. The Federation is continuing its efforts to serve and address the needs and well being of the Asian American community. Thank you for all of your support and have a healthy summer.

Community Focus Federation Newsletter (May 2008)

The Federation has made recent progress in increasing philanthropy in our communities, growing its membership of community-based organizations serving Asian Americans, and developing initiatives focusing on seniors in need. We also had an enjoyable and successful benefit gala and our Census Information Center released an updated New York City brief. We are grateful for your interest and support and welcome your feedback as well.

Much has transpired in 2007 with many accomplishments and milestones for the Federation. 2008 now marks the beginning of new goals and greater outreach. The Federations continued efforts to expand is reflected by our new name. Community Focus Federation Newsletter (July 2007)

As the Federation marks the close of its fiscal year, we are pleased to have ended on a strong note. Beyond providing more financial resources to member agencies through the Asian American Community Fund, this year we have also seeded an endowment of $200,000! Other events such as our May benefit gala, which was our highest grossing yet, celebrated the accomplishments of noteworthy Asian-Americans and our policy forums for member agencies and other community-based organizations were successful. The Federation thanks you, our supporter, for your continued partnership to support these advances within our community!

Community Focus Federation Newsletter (April 2007)

Spring is in the air and we feel energized by the bright sunlight and warm air. As featured in this issue, the Federation is extremely thankful to the W.K. Kellogg Foundation for its acknowledgement and support of our philanthropic initiatives. Their recognition of our work is such a tremendous encouragement as we continue to help connect community assets with community needs. We are also very grateful to our Board of Directors for having taken an important step towards ensuring a vibrant future for the Federation through seeding of an endowment. We invite you to celebrate these accomplishments among others at our Galas celebration in May!

Community Focus Federation Newsletter (January 2007)

2006 was a tremendous year for the Federation! There was an increase in interest and awareness of the Asian American community among the general public, in terms of what issues we face and how we are seeking to resolve them. And, in one of our top stories, the Federation recently received among its largest gifts from individuals ever, donations from Paul D.C. Huang and Jeff Chin. These are tremendous demonstrations of support for our work as well as contributions that will make a big difference in our community - we hope they will inspire others.

Community Focus Federation Newsletter (September 2006)

The Federation is growing on many forefronts! Development is seen particularly within our philanthropy program. Just recently, the Federation awarded $110K to member agencies through our Asian American Community Fund and we are developing new charitable vehicles, such as giving circles and donor-advised funds. It is exciting to see what the coming months will bring as a new strategic direction that prioritizes philanthropy was just approved by our Board of Directors.

Additionally, our research team is making strides as is seen by their most recent publication, the Economic Characteristics of Asian Americans in the New York Metropolitan Area. The report is a Census 2000-based analysis, offering unprecedented detail on work-force participation, employment, earnings, income, housing, and occupational and industry representation of Asian Americans in the New York Metropolitan Area. It covers the Asian American population and its six largest ethnic groups in the New York region. These two significant programs provide a great resource for our member agencies and community at large.
