Celebration of Universal Peace in South Florida

Looking to inspire peace and harmony in the lives of everyone, the Jade Buddha for Universal Peace is touring the world and will be in Homestead, Florida from April 10-18, 2010.

The World Tour began in March 2009 in Vietnam. In just 3 months around 4 million people paid homage to the Jade Buddha in Vietnam. After Vietnam the Jade Buddha traveled to Australia and now it has started its tour of USA and Canada which will go on until May 2011. After North America the Jade Buddha travels to Germany, England, France, before returning to Asia.

“The purpose of exhibiting the Jade Buddha around the world is for everyone, irrespective of their religion, to take a moment to refl ect upon peace; peace for the world; peace in personal relationships; peace for families and friends; peace at work; and most importantly peace in one’s own heart and mind,” said Khanya Moolsiri, Asian American community leader.

The Jade Buddha for Universal Peace will be unveiled at an opening ceremony on April 10 at the Wat Buddharangsi, a Buddhist temple on 15200 SW 240 Street, Homestead.

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for South Floridians to view the Jade Buddha, a spiritual icon and honored as a wonder of the present-day world,” Ms. Moolsiri said. “It is the world’s largest jade Buddha, sculpted from 18 tons of single piece gem-quality jade to a four tons and seven foot high Jade Buddha.”

Two of the main donors of the event locally are ChakraSamvara Center and Wat Buddharangsi of Miami.
A donation by Kachen Projoubsook of Thida Thai Ltd. is helping promote this event.
