The Asian American Federation of Florida (AAFF) is a 501(c)(3) coalition that aims to unity and collaboration among the various Asian Pacific American organizations and to improve the relationship of a culturally diverse Asian Pacific American community in Florida. The AAFF is a statewide organization made up of more than 70 Bangladesh, Burmese, Cambodian, Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Iranian, Korean, Laotian, Taiwanese, Thai, Turkish and Vietnamese faith-based and community-based organizations, businesses and media.

 

 

 

AAFF To Hold Statewide Meeting in Orlando

Miami, Florida - Sept 23, 2011
The Asian American Federation is holding a whole-day meeting in Orlando on a Saturday, October 15, 2011 to further foster unity and collaboration among its culturally diverse Asian Pacific American organizations in Florida.  The meeting will be held at  DOUBLE TREE HOTEL By Hilton on 60 South Ivanhoe Blvd, Orlando, FL 32804.

A general membership and Board of Directors meeting will be held in the morning to ratify amendments to the Bylaws, which include the provision for a President-Elect and creation of a Youth Council as discussed in the Annual Summit that was held in Fort Lauderdale on June 16-17, 2011. The general meeting will include reports from various regions including the newly formed AAFF-Youth Council, an update on the Alien Land Law, foreclosure initiatives, Voters Education/Registration Strategic Plans for creating a Third Party Voter Registration Organization, and  cultural event plans to celebrate the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in May.  This will be  followed by a powerpoint presentation  on how to become an effective organization, how to apply for grants, and how to raise funds for programs and various community projects.

In the afternoon, Abraham Xiong, President of Government Contractors Association, will conduct a workshop on government contracting, explain the various types of government contracts, and provide advice on how to grow one's organization into the Government market. Tax-related issues and Updates concerning the general Asian public, non-profit and the business community will be presented by Li Chen, CPA and Tax Manager for Cherry, Bekaert & Holland LLP.

"AAFF strives to empower our community through education, and the topics will be helpful and relevant to the current economic situation affecting  Asian Americans, especially in Florida," says AAFF President Dr. Joy Bruce,  

The Asian American Federation meeting is held in conjunction with the Filam Coalition of Florida and Filam Political Alliance of Florida meetings, to be held in the same venue (DoubleTree Hotel) on October 16, 2011

$10 for Youth Council Members

Organizational membership fees are $25.00 for non profits and $100 for businesses. There are no individual memberships for the Asian American Federation of Florida Conference
